The Gary East Side Community Development Corporation (GESCDC) is a registered 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit charitable organization.  The organization was founded in 2017 by Dr. Marlon Mitchell and Scott Upshaw to tackle the workforce and housing needs in the city of Gary, Indiana. We have grown our outreach to address emerging social, economic, cultural, and educational needs of the diverse communities in Northwest Indiana area. Those needs included problems of poverty, injustice, lack of jobs, homelessness and homeownership, struggling schools, and lack of business investment.
